D&D 5E Story Mode is OSR-adjacent, at least. Not that much more grimdark, but more concise. It sort of does something similar to E6, but in a more focused, thought out way. What bothers me about it is that there was zero research into what weapons and armor actually look like and what they cost. WebLow Fantasy Gaming is a little lighter in terms of rules but definitely fits the themes you're looking for. I actually own the Deluxe book that they Kickstarted and am waiting on the Companion books from Kickstarter as well.
