WebMar 30, 2010 · Oct 20, 2008. 608. minnesota. I have been buying and returning headers for my 71 Z with 350, and finally found a set that fit, and don't hang down to the ground. The frame in the pic is 8" from the ground, the header tube is 7" from the ground. The flange, of course is a little lower. No plug , starter or oil filter issues! These chassis headers fit 283-400 S/B Chevy V8s and has 1-5/8" primary tubes with 2-1/2" collectors.

I don't think I had anywhere near 3' of clearance. 2' probably. The whole car was up while I was doing the new exhaust start to finish, so I'm not sure if it had to be that way, or just the front.
