This walk provides a geological and ecological overview of what lives in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, and how the flora and fauna survive and thrive. Location: Brown’s Ranch Trailhead – 30301 Alma School Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85262. Skill level: Easy. WebCarla joined the McDowell Sonoran Land Trust board in 1992 and served on the McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission (1994) and Desert Preservation Task Force (1997). She helped spearhead the “Save Our McDowells” campaign in 1995 where voters approved a two -tenths of 1 % sales tax increase to help fund land purchases for the Preserve.
