While it gets the job done, I worry this hard drive could crap out at any moment.

WebFeb 9, 2024 · Issue 2 Fix (after calling Supermicro 3 times, on 3rd try I got someone who knew what he was talking about and talked me step-by-step through BIOS changes): 1. Enter BIOS, go to ADVANCED tab, change NVMe Firmware Source to "AMI Native Support" 2. Go to BOOT Tab, change Boot Mode Select to UEFI (if your Windows copy is UEFI like mine) 3. WebA strange bios setting would prevent nvme boot. On older X9 boards you could even mod the bios to support nvme boot. I did it a while ago to boot an X9SCL-F to boot proxmox from a Kingston a1000 1tb nvme ssd. Of course there is a risk of bricking your server when modding a bios. WebMay 10, 2024 · Is it possible to have some Nvme Raid? you can build a software raid in windows with every kind of drive you want. if you want to boot from a Nvme drive without modifiying the BIOS install windows on a SATA SSD, then install windows from that drive running Win on the Nvme drive. WebFeb 22, 2024 · It seems that Supermicro X9SCM-F does not support booting from PCIe NVMe drive. I went through TrueNAS installation, installer correctly detected NVMe drive in PCIe slot and installed OS there. However, after reboot, I don't have BIOS option to boot from that drive. I searched over forums and it seems that I'm out of luck.

Those HP drives quite possibly have custom firmware. M.2 is a form-factor. The drive is either SATA or NVMe.
